Dear SIFE Friends,

Big companies demand more from university students than ever before. A human resource manager from Deloitte once shared their general criteria - which is to recruit graduates “who are bright, have great personality, and proof of commitment.” Are you prepared?

The Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Macquarie Internship Program is the stepping stone for students to reach their dreams and for students who want to help their community at the same time.

The Internship Program is designed to make you stand out from the crowd:

• A professional experience working in every division of our team for 8 weeks.
• The opportunity to represent Macquarie University at the SIFE National Competition & SIFE World Cup. To compete against universities from around Australia and the chance to make a presentation in front of industry professionals and receive feedback on your presentation (we are the only business society that offer an opportunity of this kind).
• SIFE is a global organisation with chapters in more than 40 countries across the world. It is impressive to have it on your resume whether you pursue a career in Australia or overseas.
• Improve your networking skills. Talk directly to company directors, HR recruitment teams and company representatives about your career. Through the SIFE network, one executive has completed their internship at HSBC Sydney and one executive was offered a graduate position at OneSteel - going straight into the interview (bypassing the traditional recruitment process). The power of networking! Of course you must also have been of high calibre as well.
• Most importantly, to make a difference to your community and feel good about it - even if it is a small difference, it is worth working towards. If you are ready to step up from asking for donations – this is for you. Give something back to your community!
